Are all IMAX the same? » Improve Q

No. Through a somewhat controversial marketing move in recent years, IMAX start to license its brand to regular size auditoriums that have only been retrofitted with IMAX projector, but with little change to the screen size, which are much smaller then the original purpose built IMAX auditorium with 15/70mm film and giant screen. Notable such smaller IMAX auditorium includes all the ones found in AMC theatres. Despite the significant difference in experience (more than 5 times difference in screen size), all IMAX brand movies are charged the same premium price which caused a great deal of confusion. One can consult for listing of different IMAX theatres.
